Even Akufo-Addo Wont Be Bribed With ASecond-Hand Ford Expedition Kofi Adams

National Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams says no one in his 'right senses' will describe a car gift to President Mahama as bribe.

In his view, the gift well documented and presented publicly to the presidency cannot constituent bribery thus the “cacophony of noises” that has characterised the supposed Ford Expedition car presented to the President by a Burkinabe contractor is part of a grand scheme to make him [Mahama] unpopular.

Social media went buzzing after Joy News investigations revealed that President Mahama received a car gift worth $100,000 from a Burkinabe contractor who was incidentally awarded a $650,000 contract to fence a parcel of land for Ghana's Embassy in that country.

Many including anti-corruption crusaders have described the act as major. In defense, government in a statement said the Ford Expedition gifted to the President did not influence the contract awarded.

But the Minority in Parliament has threatened to begin an impeachment process if the allegation turns out true.

However, Kofi Adams on Asempa FM Thursday said, the position taken by the opposition gives more credence to claims that they lack campaign message ahead of the general elections. According to him, even the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) won’t accept a second Ford Expedition if he is bribed with it not to contest the elections.

“Even though he knows he won’t win the November 7 elections, he won’t accept a second car from me to step down”. The NDC Organizer maintained that the NPP can move heaven on earth to paint President Mahama black but “he will come out in a white robed like an angel”. Kofi Adams called on all well-meaning Ghanaians to threat the false allegation with the contempt it deserves and support President Mahama to deliver a Better Ghana.

In a rebuttal, the NPP parliament candidate for Awutu Senya West, George Andah said attempt by government to throw dust into the eyes of Ghanaians will not wash.

He opined that, the only way President Mahama will be exonerated on this bribery issue is for the state to provide further and better particulars on the exposé.

“Google the world corruption, the name of our president pops up first; Ghana has been humiliated big time”. George Andah bemoaned.
