Robber Gunned Down At Sege

POLICE UNDER the Tema Regional Police Command on Friday night gunned down a suspected bandit in a fierce exchange of gunfire and in the course retrieved two guns and some rounds of ammunition.

The incident took place at Old Ningo in the Ningo-Prampram District of Accra.

Police identified the arrested suspects as Affum Agbekle, 22, Mohammed Nzail, 23, and Devine Tetteh, 24. Two of them managed to escape with bullet wounds.

The body of Felix Teye, who was killed during the gun battle, has been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue in Accra awaiting autopsy.

2 motorbikes, Hyundai H100 bus with its registration plate removed and Toyota Corolla number GR 7562-13 found with the robbers were impounded while the items stolen from the Sege residents were also recovered.

A search conducted in the abode of the deceased at Old Ningo revealed 2 Samsung air conditioners, 1 damaged burner, 1 LG table top fridge, 1 heater and other personal effects.

The Tema Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Paul Manly Awini confirmed the incident to the DAILY GUIDE.

According to him, the suspects on June 17, 2016 at about 5pm raided a home at Sege in the Ada West District of Accra and took away 32 inches flat screen TV, 25 pieces of assorted clothes, 20 cartons of canned tomatoes (Tom brand), a home theatre and other personal belongings.

A few minutes after the raid, the Region Police Commander said, they had an information that some people were seen packing some goods into a Hyundai H100 mini bus without registration number and that the suspects had taken the coastal road from Sege to Old Ningo.

He indicated that without hesitation, a joint police team from Prampram and Sege Districts were quickly dispatched to the area to look for the suspects.

“The police team chanced on the suspects discharging the booty from the mini bus onto a Toyota Corolla with registration number GR 7562-13 at Old Ningo.” DCOP Awini stated.

He said the suspects upon seeing the police opened fire and the police spontaneously returned fire, fatally wounding Felix Teye who died later.

He noted that the arrested suspects are in police custody assisting in investigations after which they will be arraigned.
