Abaasehene Cries Over Teenage Pregnancy

The paramount chief of the Abaase Traditional Area in the Pru West District of the Brong Ahafo Region, Nana Obrempong Kru Takyi II, has bemoaned the high teenage pregnancy cases in his community.

He has expressed fear that if care is not taken, girls in the community would not benefit from the newly established Community Day SHS recently commissioned by President John Mahama.

He told The Finder that one thing he has realised after ascending the throne is that school girls in Abaase always drop out.

According to Nana Obrempong Kru Takyi II, the high teenage pregnancy rate in the community has led to the dropping out of many girls from school, some as young as 12 years.

Nana Obrempong Kru Takyi II noted that the future looks uncertain for the Abaase Community if the community does not benefit, especially the girls, from the new Community Day SHS established by government.

"If we do not take care it is only strangers who are going to benefit from the new SHS built in the community because most of the girls at the tender age are getting pregnant and are dropping out of school," Nana Takyi II noted.

Nana Takyi II said his outfit is going to deal with parents whose young daughters get pregnant.
