Isaac ‘The Royal Storm’ Dogboe stretched his unbeaten professional boxing run to fourteen straight wins (14-0-0,9ko) when he stopped “disrespectful” Ugandan boxer Edward “The Shaker” Kakembo in the sixth round of their 12 round contest on Saturday to retain his title at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Dogboe, the Undefeated World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa featherweight champion, who represented Ghana at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, put up an impressive performance to win by a technical knockout in three minute thirty-three seconds of round six against the Ugandan army official, who had not lost in ten fights (10-0-0,7ko) before Saturdays fight.

Kakembo in the buildup to the fight had called Dogbe a “dog” and intended tying him down with a chain he had always draped around him body. The Ghanaian boxer did not take kindly, Kakembo’s name calling, describing him as “disrespectful.”

Dogbe, 21, with the intent of punishing his Ugandan opponent for insulting him, started the bout with intensity and succeeded in putting Kakembo down in the first round but the challenger managed to get back on his feet.

The Ghanaian bombarded his challenger with several punches turning him into a punching bag. Kakembo could only manage a few shots to the utter surprise of the boxing fans at the venue.

The London based Ghanaian boxer said but for his Dad’s advice, he could have finished Kakembo in the early rounds.

“He should thank my Dad because I had a bitter feeling for him. I was really going out there to hurt him, but my Dad tapped me and said Isaac it is ok. Take it easy on the kid,” Dogbe said after the fight.

Kakembo blamed his defeat on the food he ate earlier before the fight. “I came into the ring feeling weak because the food I ate was full of pepper. I don’t eat pepper,” Kakembo said after the fight and immediately requested for a rematch.

It was a fan-pack action night dubbed ‘Battle Of Rising Stars’ with former president Jerry John Rawlings, Minister of Sports Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, boxing hall of famer Barimah Azumah Nelson, WBO Africa representative, Samir Captan, among a host of dignitaries gracing the occasion.

In the supporting bouts of the night, Anama Doste won by a TKO in the second round over Emmanuel Adotey in a welterweight contest, whilst Sherif Quaye secured a second round TKO win over Hamidu Turkson in a lightweight bout.
