Osu Mantse Hot As Kingmakers Roar

A combined force of some representatives from the various quarters of Osu led by the Osu Dzaase quarter (Kingmakers of Osu), held a press conference last Tuesday to expose what they described as “the unholy alliance between the ‘supposed’ Osu Mantse, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI and some unscrupulous government officials” in the aftermath of the Achimota Land saga between government and the Osu Mantse over the weekend.

A little background to the Achimota land saga reveals that last weekend, the Head of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) Mr. Yaw Donkor sent a team of security men to maul down ongoing projects on the said lands believed to have been sold out to developers by the Osu ‘Mantse’ and hence the latter’s press conference on the issue to curse government and call for the removal of the security Capo ,further threatening that the people of Osu will boycott this year’s general elections in respect of that incident.

But, on the other hand, at a different press conference organized on Tuesday 21st June 2016 by the Osu Dzaase(Kingmakers of Osu Sool) who are seriously challenging the legitimacy of the sitting Osu Mantse at the Supreme Court and the Gt. Accra Regional House of Chiefs indicated that it comes to them as no surprise that the government on one side and Nii Kinka Dowuona VI and his allies on the other are now at each other’s throat after “some state officials aided in forcing him as a Chief on the people of Osu at a ceremony where the over four hundred armed police officers out-numbered by far the celebrants of the occasion for fear of interruption or challenge of the evil act that was being perpetuated.”

Addressing the press, Nii Osikan Kpeneku, the ‘Shippi Dudor’ of Osu, noted saying, “it is rather strange and pathetic for the Mankralo of Osu,Nii Ako Nortei IV to disown Nii Nortey Owuo III the legitimate and still the substantive Osu Mantse as having been destooled, without any evidence or prove of any ceremony for destoolment and yet proceeded out of his own selfish interest and greed to wrongfully appoint his own Osu Mantse with the shameless support of some unscrupulous state officials whiles the Mankralo is even not part or a member of the Kingmakers of Osu… Nii Kinka Dowuona VI is creature of state machinery to create, loot and share Osu properties.”

He said, Nii Nortey Owuo III the incumbent Osu Mantse remains alive and un-destooled “The black stool which is the symbol of authority which qualifies one to be Osu Mantse is still in the custody of NII NORTEY OWUO III and so one will ask which stool is Kinka Dowuona VI on sitting on or swore his oath of allegiance to?”, Nii Osikan quizzed.

“Is it not absurd that the same Mankralo Nii Ako Nortei IV who is challenging Kinka Dowuona at the Regional House of Chiefs at Dodowa over his legitimacy as Chief of Osu is the same person holding a press conference now and referring to Kinka as Paramount Chief of Osu, what has change, is it an alliance between them to defraud Osu?,” he asked rhetorically.

Again he stated that the Osu Traditional Council as it stands now is a hollow entity with only three members who cannot definitely speak for Osu so their claims during their press conference that Osu will boycott the 2016 elections is infantile and ridiculous statement born out of their own frustrations.

They also seized the opportunity to caution government not to release any Osu Stool Land or Property to the “supposed Chief” whilst urging all individuals ,group ,state operatives and estate developers who are busily transacting business with Kinka Dowuona VI and Mankralo to desist and advice themselves because it won’t be long  before the chickens come home to roost.”

The Osiahene of Osu, Nii Nortey Adumua IV, on his part also seized the opportunity to apologize to the National Security boss Mr. Yaw Donkor and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana for all the “needless curses rained on them by those who claimed to be representing Osu.”

He added that the youth of Osu will embark on a mammoth demonstration in August the very HOMOWO DAY to drive home their point to the nation as a whole.

Some of the senior Members from the various quarters who were present at the conference included the un-destooled Chief of Osu Nii Nortey Owuo III, Nii Odartey Sro III (Atofotse of Osu Stool), Nii Adukwei Hammond (Agt. Dzaasetse of Kinkawe), Nii Nortey Omantuo VI (Osu Ashante Dzaasetse), Nii Aniefif IV (Osu Alata Dzaasetse) and Nii Torgbor Abremse III (H)
