Come Saturday, August 6, Ghanaian reggae superstar, Rocky Dawuni, will perform at the Levitt Pavilion Los Angeles in MacArthur Park in the United States of America.
This is Rocky’s first major concert in the States after his Europe tour dubbed ‘Branches of the Same Tree Tour’ which took him to countries like Spain, Belgium, Germany, Latvia, Czech Republic, India, among others.
Rocky Dawuni who has appeared in various concerts with Steve Wonder, Peter Gabriel, Shaggy, among others, is expected to use the event to promote Ghanaian music and culture.
The Ghanaian award-winning artiste who continues to raise the flag of Ghana high on the international music scene is billed to perform alongside a number of selected international acts.
Dawuni and his 11-piece All Star Band will perform some of their greatest hits that represent a fusion of reggae, soul and traditional African sounds at the event.
Rocky Dawuni will be joined by celebrated DJ Drez who has performed with Rocky on many platforms for years, and now is one of the top DJs in the States.
The international reggae artiste whose music has been featured on popular US television shows recently thrilled huge audiences across Spain, Belgium, Germany, Latvia, Czech Republic as well as a performance at the legendary Bangalore Place in India with Grammy winning musician/composer, Ricky Kej, and very special guests.
Dawuni burst onto the African reggae scene in 1996 with the release of his debut recording ‘The Movement’. The artiste’s introspective journey into social and spiritual consciousness garnered rave reviews.
Over the last few years, Dawuni’s music and electric live performances have attracted thousands to his concerts.
He remains Ghana’s first Grammy nominated musician, placed 10th in a CNN African Global Stars poll, a leadership council member of RFK Human Rights with global personalities like Bill Clinton (former US President), Arch Bishop Desmond a Tutu, Quincy Jones, Ethel Kennedy, Harry Belafonte, among others.
In addition to his musical career, Rocky Dawuni has collaborated and been a spokesperson for several global bodies on various projects, including ONE.org, UN Foundation, UNICEF, UNFCC, UN Global Fund, Carter Center, Stop Poaching Now and others.
