Obinim Is Not Above The Law - Aide

Aide to controversial Bishop Daniel Obinim says his boss is yet to receive a letter of invitation from the police. According to Joseph Osei Brenya, ‘the Angel of God’ is a law abiding citizen and will not disrespect any law enforcement agency in the country.

The aide was reacting to a threat by the police to ‘arrest’ Bishop Obinim if he does not report to the Tema Police Command on Monday August 21.2016. This follows a complaint of assault filed by the Minister of Gender and Social Protection to Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit office in Tema after Bishop Obinim whipped teenage members of his church for fornicating.

The police in an interview with News men claimed the Bishop has failed to honour their invitation after submitting a letter to one of his branches in Tema Friday.

But Joseph Osei Brenya on Sunday maintained that, Bishop Obinim cannot ignore their invitation because “he is not above the law”. Rather, he claimed, the letter was sent to the wrong place since the office of the Man of God is at Ashaley Botwe in Accra.

“The letter was sent to our branch in Tema but the officer of Bishop is in Accra so the associate pastor in Tema brought the letter to the house but I can tell whether he [Obinim] has received it or not” he stated.

This notwithstanding, Mr. Osei Brenya said Obinim is ready to go to the police station to defend himself.
