PHOTOS: Colorful Artistic Display At Chale Wote Street Arts Festival 2016

This year's edition of Chale Wote Street Art Festival has ended successfully on the street of James Town in Accra.  

The artistic extravaganza organised by Accra Dot Alt, once again proved how popular it has become over the years as large crowds thronged the streets of James Town in Accra last weekend for the finale of the sixth edition.

It was colorful, convivial atmosphere that attracted people from all walks of life, both local and foreign. Stalls sold a variety of items and music boomed from all corners as festival goers reveled in the many vibrant art forms an offer.

The open street arts festival started from Monday August 15 to Sunday August 21, 2016. Theme for this year’s festival was “Spirit Robot" and it brought together different form of African arts including Music, dance, Poetry, body paining, streets arts, fashion, food, exhibitors among other things.

The CHALE WOTE Street Art Festival is an alternative platform that brings art, music, dance and performance out into the streets. The community-based festival takes place in James Town – Accra’s most historic community – and targets exchanges between scores of Ghana-based and international artists and patrons by creating and appreciating art together.

Since 2011, CHALE WOTE has included graffiti murals, photography, theater, spoken word, interactive art installations, live street performances, panels, tours, extreme sports, a film festival, a fashion parade, food and design markets.
