The midfielder's latest injury is a big worry to the GFA chief, who has rushed to wish him speedy recovery.

Ghana Football Association vice president George Afriyie has revealed that Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah, who picked up a knee injury last weekend, was in the plans of Black Stars coach Avram Grant ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Uganda next month.

The Old Lady defeated Palermo 1-0 in the Italian Serie A on Saturday but Asamoah was pulled off late in the game after coming on for Miralem Pjanic.

The club has confirmed that the 26-year-old would be out between six and seven weeks.

“Kwadwo Asamoah’s injury was unfortunate because it happened at a time that he had agreed to play for the national team again against Uganda,” Afriyie told Citi FM.

“He is a player I know very well and this will be a big blow to everybody who is associated with him especially Ghana.”

“We are with him in prayers and I don’t know how long he will be out but one thing is certain and that is we are with him in prayers.”

“We hope that he will be able to recover in time to join his colleagues once again,” he added.

Asamoah, who is yet to play for Ghana after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, will miss key clashes against AC Milan and Napoli in the Serie A as well as Champions League ties against Dinamo Zagreb & Lyon.

 
Ghana will host Uganda at the Tamale Sports Stadium on October 7.
