NPP To React to Jabs From Veeps Speech at Asawase & Asuadei

After the unprecedented shift of the date of the NPP manifesto launch with so many changes including allegations of stealing, many Ghanaians are really highly expectant of the outdooring of the opposition party's policy document.

But the question is, why has the party chosen former President Kuffour as the lead campaigner of their manifesto launch and not the Flag bearer of the NPP Nana Akuffo Addo?

For the NDC, President Mahama did lead the party during their manifesto launch at Cape Coast. The development within the NPP has made Ghanaians wonder whether President Kufour is the presidential candidate of the NPP or a gray eminence controlling the party from his Airport Residence.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has confirmed it will launch its manifesto on October 9, 2016 at Trade Fair in the Greater Accra Region.

To some, this is being hurriedly done to produce an agenda for their campaign after the Vice President Kwesi Amissah -Arthur slated them for not having a manifesto, ahead of the National 2016 election at the Asawase where he launched Hon Mohammed Muntaka's Campaign Task Force.

The initial venue was the Tamale Sports Stadium, where the NPP held its national delegates congress, and the Party had said the choice of Tamale was to maximize the party’s electoral fortunes in the Northern Region on December 7.

It also said the NPP Presidential nominee, Nana Akufo-Addo’s successful campaign tour of the Northern Region necessitated the choice of Tamale.

However at the last minute, a World Cup qualifying match was fixed at the same venue on the same day by the Sports Ministry, necessitating a change in date and venue for the launch.

Before Asawase, the Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur had called on the rank and file of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) not to give credence to the Presidential candidate of the NPP, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo since has no track record.

He made the statement at the campaign launch of NDC’s Parliamentary candidate Mr. Cris Boadi in the Ahafo Ano South East Constituency of the Ashanti region on Saturday.

He said the NDC took over from the NPP because of the latter's bad performance during former President Kufour’s reign. Adding that even with President Kuffour's track record which Nana Addo is riding on, he has even dispensed with the services of perceived Kufour loyalists.

These two separate statements made by the Vice President at Asuadei in the Ahafo Ano South East Constituency of the Ashanti region on Saturday and Asawase on Sunday, according sources in the NPP, is seen as a mockery of the opposition party's desire to regain power.
