NDC Has Laid Solid Foundation For Socio-Economic Development - President

President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday affirmed that  government has laid a solid foundation for development to thrive in his first term of office.

He emphasised that his government has deliberated invested in infrastructure and appealed to Ghanaians to renew his mandate in the December 7, polls for job creation and poverty alleviation.

He said the road, health, education, energy and agricultural sectors have witnessed tremendous improvement within three years and pledged his government’s commitment to ensure that the socio-economic wellbeing of Ghanaians are guaranteed in the ensuing year.

The President was addressing supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at  rallies at Yeji and Prang in the Pru District to kick start his five-day campaign tour in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

Being accompanied by leading members of the NDC, ministers of state, and members of parliament, the campaign tour would take President Mahama and his entourage to Tano North, Tano South, Kintampo North, and Nkoranza North, Jaman North, Tain and Asutifi North districts.

He is also expected to visit Dormaa West, Nkoranza South and Techiman North and Asunafo North municipalities.

President Mahama told the enthusiastic supporters of the party that “Rome was not built in a day”, hence, the need for Ghanaians to give the NDC additional four-year mandate to facilitate rapid socio-economic development.

He said 2017 is a year of economic transformation for all class of Ghanaians under his second term of office, and could be achieved through job creation.

President Mahama said priority would be placed on livelihood empowerment, announcing that more than 400,000 youth would be engaged under the National Youth Employment Programme from 2017 to 2021.

He pointed out that his government would also place high premium to improve on agriculture, and this is why Cabinet has assented and very soon a law would be passed for the establishment of the Cashew Development Board.

This President Mahama said would promote the cashew industry, set up a standardised price and facilitates ready market for the product.
