NPP 'Latching' Onto Kalyppo For Victory Adu-Asare

The main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will ride on the crest of wave of anything, no matter how flimsy it might be, to advance its power-seeking quest, presidential staffer Kojo Adu-Asare has said.

Commenting on the current Kalyppo-sipping social media blitz that began after a picture of NPP flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, was posted on Facebook savouring the fruit juice, Mr Adu-Asare told Moro Awudu on Class91.3FM’s Inside Politics programme on Thursday, 6 October: “They [NPP] are latching onto flimsy stuff, lightweight issues – Kalyppo – that’s what I’m saying,” to campaign for the December 7 polls.

Speaking on the same programme, the Communications Director of the NPP, Nana Akomea, said he was “surprised” about how drinking Kalyppo à la Akufo-Addo had become en vogue and created a firestorm on social media.

He, however, said the Kalyppo blitz had nothing to do with the product but more to do with the personality of Mr Akufo-Addo. “It shows you that these people are giants. I’m sure if President Mahama, too, was sucking on some coconut juice, his followers will do same. For me this election is about the two personalities,” he assured.
