NDC Ministers Smoke Peace Pipe

It appears that the purported long-standing feud between two ministers serving in the current government from the Northern Region and members of National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been resolved in the interest of party unity and cohesion.

It comes barely a week after Haruna Iddrisu and Murtala Mohammed at the campaign launch of the NDC candidate for Walewale constituency and Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Abubakari Abdallah had some open confrontation.

The minister for Employment and Labour Relations and Murtala Mohammed who is also the Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry reignited their divisions at the event with the Tamale South legislator accusing the party constituency executives of inappropriate conduct.

He was according to sources asked to address the crowd before Mr. Murtala Mohammed, an arrangement he felt was disrespectful and a deviation from the standard protocols.

The relationship between the two party stalwarts has grown cold over the period after the Nanton MP claimed there was a plot by a colleague MP to oust him from parliament.

But the two for the first time were spotted at the constituency campaign launch of Murtala Mohammed who is also the party’s candidate for Nanton in a hearty chat to the shock of many including party supporters.

Prior to the event, there were doubts if the Tamale South legislator will be part of functionaries to address supporters but to the surprise of many, he showed up and did what executives described as the ‘honorable thing’.

“By this, you can see that the NDC in the region is more united than ever. They have shown us that they are two matured adults who can disagree to agree. Their supporters should take cues from them”, a party source said.
