President John Dramani Mahama campaigned deep into the night on the last day of his campaign tour of the Brong Ahafo Region last Friday, and urged the people to retain him as President.
The President addressed his last rally of the four-day tour at Jinijini, where he said he had led the nation to lay a solid foundation for socio-economic development and expressed optimism that God would reward him accordingly.
While thanking the people of the Brong Ahafo Region for the massive support shown him during his campaign tour, he said what he witnessed was yet another testimony of the victory ahead.
President Mahama addressed other rallies at Wenchi, Seikwa, Sampa, Suma and Drobo.
Loaded schedule
It was a heavily -loaded day as he moved from one town to the other to addresss party supporters and pay courtesy calls on chiefs.
Even though he arrived at Jinijini late in the night, hundreds of National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters waited for hours in the town to listen to their presidential candidate.
The situation was not different from other towns where the people came out in their numbers to meet the President.
Starting off from Wenchi, the hometown of Dr Kofi Abrefa Busia, the Prime Minister in the Second Republic, President Mahama was met by a huge crowd of NDC supporters.
He went down memory lane in his political career and said his experience was unmatched by his opponents.
He mentioned how he started off as a Member of Parliament (MP) to a deputy minister, full minister, Vice-President and now President, and questioned whether any of his opponents could match his experience.
As he addressed the crowd, he said he was not left in doubt that the NDC had what it took retain power.
Parliamentary candidates
President Mahama advised the NDC supporters not to only vote for him as their presidential candidate but also vote for all the parliamentary candidates.
"We should avoid voting skirt and blouse,” he told the party supporters and added that "This time, the NDC must win both the presidential and parliamentary elections in Wenchi."
In the 2012 presidential election, President Mahama polled 20,404 votes, representing 50.1 per cent while his closest challenger, the NPP'S Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, polled 19,692 votes, representing 48.37 per cent of valid votes cast.
