Greenstreet Pledges Sincere And Accountable Leadership

Mr. Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, Presidential Candidate of the Convention Peoples’ Party (CPP), has promised to provide strong, sincere and accountable leadership to stop the loot and mismanagement of the nation’s resources.

He indicated that Ghana had been blessed with enormous resources and said what it had been lacking was selfless and honest leaders – people, who would put the common good ahead of individual comfort and convenience.

The CPP represented “a golden age of opportunities” for the people, to transform and make things better for everybody.

Mr. Greenstreet was sharing the vision of the party with voters at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.

The event was organized by “Y FM”, a Kumasi-based radio station with support from STAR-Ghana, a multi-donor pooled mechanism.

The Oforikrom parliamentary candidates of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Johnny Osei Kofi and Dr. Emmanuel Marfo, respectively, were also on hand to tell the people what they would be doing to bring progress to them, if elected.

Mr. Greenstreet said his government would pursue pragmatic economic policies to make the nation self-dependent and restore its self-dignity.

He called for the people to reject the two dominant political parties – NDC and NPP, which between them, had ruled the country in the last 24 years.

He dismissed what he termed the “inflation targeting policies” of the pair, which had failed to put the economy on the path of growth to create wealth and jobs for the population.

He asked the people to trust the CPP with their votes in the coming election and stated that they would not regret the decision.

Dr. Marfo gave the assurance that an NPP-government would focus more effort and energy on job creation, through private sector initiatives.

He described the high rate of unemployment, particularly among the youth, as deeply disturbing and said it would be tackled head-on.

It would create a friendly environment to stimulate business growth and hiring.

Mr. Osei Kofi highlighted the massive investment in education, health, roads and other sectors under the Mahama Administration and said these were helping to give jobs to the people.

He declared that a solid and robust economic foundation had been laid to propel sustainable growth of the economy and ensure improvement in the living conditions of Ghanaians.
