I Now Respect ECs Competency JOY 2012

Mr Jacob Osei Yeboah, an Independent Presidential Candidate who has been cleared by the Electoral Commission to contest for the 2016 presidential polls says his doubt about EC’s boss competency to coordinator the upcoming polls has changed.

“JOY 2012 -2016” as affectionately called in politics in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show, ‘Ghana Montie’ vehemently noted that “I now respect the EC’s competency. She has shown professionalism in her line of duty without fear or favour. We must applaud her [Charlotte Osei] for that”

Mr Osei Yeboah’s comment comes after the Electoral Commission (EC) accepted the nominations of four presidential candidates out of the 17 that applied to take part in the December 7 polls.

Addressing a news conference in Accra Monday, EC Chairperson, Charlotte Osei announced presidential candidates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), President John Mahama, Convention People’s Party (CPP), Ivor Kobina Greenstreet and an independent candidate, Jacob Yeboah have successfully gone through the process.

She explained presidential candidates are expected to get 432 registered voters across the country to endorse their candidature and this must include two voters from every administrative district.

They are also to provide information about their running mates, submit a statutory declaration regarding their residential status and must duly fill the forms properly.

The acceptance of the nominations of the NPP, NDC, CPP and Jacob Yeboah means they have satisfied requirements to take part in the December 7 presidential election.

This according to Jacob is a great move by EC to execute a successful election despite some little hitches she has been accused of by himself and other aspirants.

“Personally I have sued the EC but providing credible documents to her gave me the green light to contest the elections. The EC is using the law and that is the right thing to do.” He said
