NPP Loyal Ladies Assaulted At Suhum

Thugs suspected to be sympathizers of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday night attacked members of the Suhum branch of Loyal ladies, a women supporters group affiliated to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The young ladies had gone for a house to house campaign and just when they were about rapping up their activities, thugs from nowhere surrounded them, demanding to know which of them had called the Municipal Chief Executive of the area, who’s also the NDC’s Parliamentary candidate, names.

In the process, some of them were manhandled and had fractures on their legs, following which they reported the incident to the Police and were given medical forms to receive treatment.

The group were said to have accused the MCE, Mrs. Margaret Ansei, affectionately called Magoo of infidelity, an allegation that infuriated the thugs.

The Loyal ladies then went to the Suhum Chief’s palace where preparations were underway for the town’s Odwira festival this week to file a report, but the thugs followed them there and assaulted them again.

The chief has reportedly filed a complaint with the police.

The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, ASP Nketia Yeboah has since confirmed the incident.

No arrest have been made so far, but calm has been restored to the area.
