Afoko Denies Joining NPP Campaign

The Spokesperson of the embattled National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Paul Afoko, Nana Yaw Osei, has asked the public to ignore a statement insinuating that Mr Afoko would not join the NPP campaign until he was reinstated.

According to him, the statement, which is not from Mr Afoko’s office, is also misleading because nobody has made such comments.

“It is, as usual, coming from the enemies from within the NPP and their collaborators outside who have created the false impression that they mean well for the NPP and so want power, but in actual fact, the reverse is what they wish for the party,” he told the Daily Graphic in a telephone reaction.

A statement purportedly issued by Mr Afoko on Thursday, October 13, 2016, called on all supporters of the NPP and Ghanaians in general to support Nana Akufo-Addo, the Presidential Candidate of the NPP, to be the next President of Ghana.

However, Nana Yaw Osei, in clarifying the issue, denied such a statement had come from the office of Mr Afoko.

“It is our wish that they do not dare us into engaging them on anything at a time they are supposed to be in the trenches explaining to Ghanaians why the NPP deserves to be given the mandate to govern,” he said.
