Hon. Kokofu Lambasts Prez Mahama For Being "Ungrateful" To The Media

Member of Parliament for Bantama, Henry Kwabena Kokofu has expressed disappointment in President John Mahama, claiming he's ungrateful to media practitioners in the country.

Hon. Kokofu was saddened by recent accusation made by the President that some media cabal are hijacking his messages and blocking his good news to Ghanaians.

Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, he commended Ghanaian media for informing the populace about the works of the government and further exposing any hidden activity so as to make the government accountable to the citizenry.

He therefore cited some instances where the journalists sacrificed so much to report on the government.

Alluding to the road accident that occurred last year involving some journalists who joined President Mahama’s convoy, Hon. Kokofu was very displeased in President Mahama for failing to appreciate the hard work of journalists.

He however urged media practitioners not to back down on their services to the country, saying he and the NPP "appreciate you. We’ve your interest at heart…You’ve done well for this nation. You’re the fourth estate and so any protection you deserve must be given to you.”
Touching further on the NDC General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia's plea for votes for the party from the Volta Region, Hon. Kokofu also lambasted the Mahama government for "begging" electorates in the Volta Region to vote for them in the 2016 elections.

To him, even if the President and his government officials "crawl on your knees from Volta Region to Accra, the people say they will vote for Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo.”

"Now, that’s not your world bank again where your votes will be churned out. Now, you are begging. Now, you’re begging in the Volta Region. Nana Addo pleaded with the people to test him because he also has good things for the country but you said you’ve never heard it before. Now, your hands are in your palm and you’re begging in Volta Region."
