Mahamas Debate Call: 'We've Better Things Doing' John Boadu

The acting General Secretary of the New Patriotic party (NPP), John Boadu says President John Dramani Mahama’s request to debate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has added up to numerous invitations flooded his desk for a similar event ahead of December 7, elections.

But he noted that, his flagbearer is focused on his campaign rather than debate his political opponents, mainly, the incumbent president.

We have better things doing. I have received numerous requests for debate from radio stations among others, but we will not let that distract us from our campaign. The NDC ignored the major presidential debate so why are they calling for one now?” he questioned.

President John Mahama has been in the news recently calling on the NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo to come and debate him publicly on the issues affecting the nation.

President Mahama reiterated his calls for a debate with Nana Akufo-Addo, saying it would afford both parties an opportunity to set the record straight on a number of issues including the state of the economy.

President Mahama suggested that the NPP was simply misinforming the electorate with propaganda and his challenge would ensure a statistics based debate on the economy.

However, John Boadu in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show, ‘Ghana Montie’ noted that, his flagbearer will not be preoccupied by President Mahama’s call.

We will not waste our time on him [President Mahama]. We are on the grounds campaigning,” he told host Kwesi Aboagye.
