I Wont Debate Obuobia Darko Even In My Bedroom Tina Mensah

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary nominee for Weija-Gbawe constituency, Tina Mensah says she backed out of a face -off with her main contender, of the NDC side, Obuobia Darko because she got an intelligence from her handlers that the debate was cooked for her opponent about a month ago.

“She was hiding in her room and rehearsing the debate, because she was given the questions to study before time. I’ll rather debate my constituents on the grounds as I connect to them on my campaign. Even if Obuobia comes to hide in my bedroom I won’t debate her. We’ve had enough of debates and I think is Okay, and I feel it’s rather time to engage my constituents.” she told Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5.

Obuobia who has since denied such allegations from Tina Mensah that the organizers leaked the questions to her in advance, said her opponent should be prepared to let the opinion leaders, Chiefs and constituents know what she hopes to bring to the table in the lead-up to the elections, hence backing out from such crucial platform was a disappointment for the people of the constituency.

“Everybody who knows me know that even for four years from 2012 to 2016, this constituency is at the tips of my fingers, I can sleep and wake up and say what has been done, what hasn’t been done, where the problems are and needs to be tackled. I don’t need a leaked question or somebody to help me to go and sit in public and debate Tina Mensah. The Chiefs in the constituents who turned up had a right to know what she has for the constituents.”

Tina Mensah pulled out of a debate with her NDC rival Obuobia Darko-Opoku, alleging that the debate was “cooked” and that they were doing “what is most important” on the grounds.

The debate was being organised by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) with support from the Coalition for Domestic Elections Observers (CODEO) and the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana).
