Nana Konadu Outlines Vision For Economy

Flag bearer of the National Democratic Party (NDP) has outlined her vision for managing the nation’s economy, promising that her plans to lower taxes and invest in infrastructure would lead to booming economic growth.

Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings said the NDP if elected into office would remove the bottlenecks bedeviling the economy and create an enabling environment to strengthen industrial growth.

“My economic policies will endeavor to widen the tax net and tap into the incredible potential of our workers.

“The constant rhetoric would be over. NDP government would strengthen the economic fundamentals to help accelerate the growth of the private sector, that would ensure stability of our currency,” Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings told queen mothers in the Central Region during a campaign tour.

The former first lady said her plans would raise the nation’s economic growth rate indicators, well above its current rate of about 2 per cent, and create millions of new jobs over the next four years.

As president, Mrs Agyemang-Rawlings said she would cut the number of “ridiculous” taxes imposed by government, to help reduce the burden on the citizenry.

It was in this light that she took a dig at the Mahama led-administration for implementing “feeble economic policies”, which she added, have contributed immensely to the high unemployment rate in the country.

She, however, vowed to curtail the incessant power outages that has adversely affected businesses and build a more sustainable energy sector.
