"One Village One Dam" Will Ensure All-Year-Round Farming - NPP

Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said his "one village one dam" policy will ensure an all-year-round farming activity in the northern regions.

He said there was a lot of poverty in the northern parts of Ghana because the people who are largely farmers depended on only on rain fed agriculture and that the "one village one dam" policy would make irrigation farming accessible to all farmers.

Nana Addo, who was addressing a regional campaign rally in Wa, appealed to the people to vote massively for the NPP to enable it implement its policies including the "one district one factory" and "one constituency one million dollar" policies to help make life better for the people.

The NPP Presidential candidate accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government for presiding over what he described as massive corruption and stagnation.

He urged the electorate to vote for the NPP to chart the path of real progress and development that would enhance the quality of life for every Ghanaian.

"I am pleading with you, help send me to the Jubilee House and your life will never be the same", Nana Addo said.
Dr Mahamud Bawumia, Vice Presidential candidate of the NPP, said money that was available to President Mahama and the NDC government far outweighed those available to former President Nkrumah through to former President Kufuor.

He said money available to the NPP under former President Kufuor was 20 billion Ghana cedis far lesser than the 248 billion Ghana cedis available to the current government.

Dr Bawumia said despite this, the NPP developed Ghana far more than the NDC did, accusing the NDC of investing all the money into corrupt schemes such as the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) and the Ghana Youth Enterprises and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA) among others.

Mr John Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng, a former Minister of Trade and Industry under the Kufuor administration, said he had gone round the whole country with Nana Addo and that one thing which was clear was that Ghanaians were calling for change to address the problem of unemployment.

He said the NDC neglected the problem of unemployment claiming to be focusing on the provision of infrastructure, adding that Nana Addo had the best formula for creating jobs and appealed to the electorate to give him the nod.

"If you are a farmer and you are cultivating 10 acres of crops, under Nana Akufo Addo you will be cultivating 20 acres because there will be a factory in your district that will provide you the market", he said.

Mr Kyeremanteng said the NPP would create an industrial hub in each border town that would create hundreds of jobs for the youth and appealed to the people to use their thumbs wisely to send Nana Addo to the Jubilee House to witness real transformation.
