DKM Investor List Pops Up And Takes Voters Attention

Of all the days, the official Liquidator of the DKM Micro-finance choose to display the list of investors and clients of the defunct company on the election day.

Many people voters in the early hours of the abandoned the queues upon hearing the news to check if their names were captured on the list. The crowd grew bigger at the forecourt of the DKM office in Bolgatanga as the hours went by and the information kept spreading across the Bolgatanga central and East constituencies for obvious reason, (people are concerned about their welfare and cash).

A DKM client who gave his name only as Ishmael, said he was going to vote to make his life. better, but retrieving his DKM investment was more important to him than whoever becomes the President or Member of Parliament.

“We are told that this is the last opportunity and that if you don’t see your name and fail to complain, then you should forget
your money. I cannot forget my money. I would rather forget the vote.” He said.

What made matters worse is the conflicting dates of payment of their investments, some claimed that the Liquidator was supposed to pay them their monies on December 7 and 8, 2016 while others said they had received information from the Ghana Commercial Bank that Clients and Investors in the Upper East Region would be paid from 12-15th December, 2016.

As the move to the DKM Micro-finance office to check for the presence of their names, they then move to the Ghana commercial Bank in Bolgatanga for a confirmation of the payment date. Some residents who spoke to the Daily Guide said it was a deliberate attempt to reduce people’s interest in the election in the Bolgatanga Central.

Meanwhile the voting in the Bolgatanga Central and East were peaceful in the early hours and continued
throughout the day. The only problems were the late start of the exercise across many polling stations due to either late arrival of materials or personal. There were long queues in to Daily Guide News the early hours of the day and the hour went by the queues dwindled. The queues will become long again as the sun start setting down.
