NDC Supporters Must Accept Defeat; We Can't Always Win Elections - Agbenyo

The Deputy Communications Director of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fred Agbenyo has asked supporters of the NDC to accept defeat and plan towards the next election.

According to him – the party did its possible best to remain in power but the "unfortunate" thing happened when majority of the electorates kicked them out of power.

He told host of NEAT FM’s morning show host Kwasi Aboagye that "In a multi party democracy, we can’t continue to win elections all the time. There are times you will win and there are times you will lose. This is not the first time we are losing an election,” he said.

Fred Agbenyo was responding to an incident at the NDC’s headquarters after a ‘diehard’ supporter of the party nearly attacked him and other comrades for mismanaging funds allocated to grassroot supporters during their campaign.

The well-built angry man blamed the leadership of the ‘Umbrella’ fraternity for President Mahama’s loss to the flag bearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the just-ended elections.

But Mr Agbenyo on NEAT FM’s morning show 'Ghana Montie' said "We are likely to face these attacks from our supporters because they are hurt just like some of us.”
