Last-Minute NDC Govt Recruitment Will Be Subject To Approval By Nana Addos Govt - Frances Essiam

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Madam Frances Essiam has challenged the last-minute recruitment by the NDC government into the security agencies and the public service without consulting the Transition team of President-elect, Nana Akufo-Addo.

The President-elect’s members of the Transitional Team have raised concerns with allegations of on-going recruitment into the security agencies and the public service without consultation.

According to the co-chairperson of the Transitional Team, Mr Yaw Osafo Maafo, they have come across allegations where immediately after the results of the election was declared on December 9, the out-going NDC government started converting temporary staff of political assistants and some of the staff which they took on into permanent public and civil servants.

Commenting on this on Oman Fm’s 'Today’s Agenda', Frances Essiam insisted all the new recruitments will be subject to approval of the new institution like the new Police Council as Nana Addo’s government will have to look into the coffers of the Ministry of Finance before any transaction can be made.

“Who has given them the green light to carry out appointment and recruitment, and who will be paying them? So they should halt all these things and I am appealing to the President, Mr John Dramani Mahama that Nana Addo has not taken over the administration yet so he should not create judgment debt for the incoming President and his team,” she charged.

She however warned the civil and public officers signing contracts after the elections to desist from them because there will be sanctions, describing their activities as highly illegal as Parliament is still in recess and yet to resume to look into all contracts.

She reiterated that the various boards at the ministries, agencies and departments are going to be dissolved as they are all part of the incompetent Ghanaians voted against in the December 7 polls.

The formal handing over processes from the NDC-government to that of NPP was started on Wednesday and addressing a meeting of the Transitional Team, Mr Osafo Maafo said complaints and allegations of mismanagement has come to the attention of the in-coming government's team which needs to be looked into.

“We’ve heard of the award of new contracts after the results of the election have been announced on the 9th of December.”

“We have heard from the grapevine a few things which have become our concern [In-coming government Transitional Team]. For instance, we have heard about on-going recruitment into the security services now, which we hope is not true,” he said.
