I'm Glad Yahya Jammeh Is Going Home, But . . . - Nana Ofori Owusu

Nana Ofori Owusu, a member of the Progressive People's Party (PPP), has called on the African community to ensure law and order on the continent.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Nana Ofori Owusu implored the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the African Union (AU) not to be biased towards conflict-prone countries.

According to him, the same measure of treatment meted out by the two particular African bodies to address the Gambian situation will be replicated in other countries where the leaders begin to "misbehave".

Though he didn't name any African State or leader whose administration has been characterized by conflicts, Nana Ofori Owusu believed the ECOWAS and AU will exhibit the same determination and expel any African leader who behaves as the outgone President Yahya Jammeh, without fear or favour.

He advised the two entities and Africa at large, saying "what is good for the goose is good for the gander. They assure us that we have conflict zones all over Africa and so they should come together, and use the same tenacity, the same force; to oust any leader that’s misbehaving anywhere there’s conflict.”

The PPP member further expressed support for the action taken by the African leaders, through which the President Yahya Jammeh has stepped down for Adama Barrow to lead the country.

“I’m glad that this man is going home. I’m happy that Africa Union has been united and asked him to step down. We should let the same spirit to rule Africa for Africa to move forward.”
