Several MPs including some on the minority side have vehemently refused claims by Hon. Mahama Ayariga that minister designate for Energy, Boakye Agyarko, offered them bribe to influence his approval by the appointments committee following his vetting.

The debate has attracted comments from Wofa Kwabena Sarpong, a communication team member of the New Patriotic Party who insists he can’t make heads and tails of the bribery allegation made by the Bawku Central MP.

In his view, the renowned lawyer who was once a spokesperson for late President Atta Mills, could possibly be the only pious person who can soundly sleep with bribe in his house before raising an alarm.    

In an interview on ATV’s Asem Yi Di Ka show, the NPP scribe noted that: “I find this amazing- Ayariga claims he was given bribe from Agyarko but decided to go home with it without raising questions. He sleeps with the bribe and come back the next day to make an allegation.

He is a man of repute. He has been an MP for long, a spokesperson for our former president and is renowned lawyer as well but it is alarming he took GHC3000 bribe without raising questions”, he said.
