Veep Mansion: Flowers Cost $137,000, Fence Wall $470,000 - Nana Akomea Reveals

Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea has given credence to claims by Vice President Dr. Bawumia that the erstwhile NDC government was spending about $14 million on the construction of an official residence for Ghana's Vice Presidents.

Dr. Bawumia was alarmed by the exorbitant amount and wondered if the gates of the residence were going to be made out of gold, for that matter spending such sum on the house.

Following his shocking revelation, members of the opposition NDC has debunked the claims, stating that the cost of the project was pegged at $5.9 million and not $14m as stipulated.

Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Nana Akomea noted that Dr. Bawumia's revelations were true adding that the project was sole-sourced.

He named the contractor of the project to be Consor Limited and disclosed that the John Mahama administration made a part-payment of $8 million for the construction of the residence.

He further listed some of the facilities on the residence costing the Fence walls at 470000 dollars, an office for the Second Lady at 716000 dollars and boys quarters at 410000 dollars among others.

Another shocking revelation, according to Nana Akomea, is that flowers to be used to adorn the residence cost 137000 dollars.

Based on the evidence, Nana Akomea stated emphatically that the NDC's $5 million value of the project is a palpable lie.
