Tarzan Jabs Mills

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the defunct Ghana@50 secretariat, Dr Charles Wereko-Brobby, has stated that the President Mills Administration would go into the nations history books as the worst government ever to rule the country. This, according to the former CEO of the Volta River Authority (VRA), is because the tax law professor has amply demonstrated that he has no vision for the countrys development. Justifying his assertion, Tarzan, as he is affectionately called, said the Presdient Mills Administration, since it took over the running of the country ten months ago, has not presented any single development bill to Parliament. If you think Im lying, you check from Parliament whether the ruling government has ever presented any development bill for deliberation by the house members since it assumed office ten months ago, he contended. The man, who was the star witness during the just-ended Ghana@50 probe, said what the government has been able to put before Parliament are international bills which only require ratifications. He made these remarks in an interview with Paul Adom Octhere, host of Good Evening Ghana, a current affairs programme on Metro TV. Dr Wereko-Brobby opined that it was no wonder the running of the country has become so slow to the dissatisfaction of some leading members of the NDC, including ex-President Jerry John Rawlings, founder of the party. He emphasized that as result of the poor performance of President Mills, government, the spirit of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has gone down drastically that the partys paraphernalia are not even seen on the streets across the country. The founder of the demised United Ghana Movement (UGM) said instead of the ruling government solving the myriad problems confronting the nation, they have resorted to witch-hunting, blame game and the worst of it, explaining problems. We dont need the explanations, but the solution because when they were campaigning, they made us aware that they knew the problems and that, theyre on top of the solutions, Dr Wereko-Brobby stressed. The energy expert, who has expressed interest in contesting the upcoming national chairmanship race of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), said President Mills would have hit the ground running if he had a vision before assuming the presidency, rather than explaining the problems, with the view of winning cheap public sympathy. He noted that President Barack Obama inherited an American economy which had suffered a deficit for the first time but has been able to hit the ground running because he had a vision before assuming the presidency. On his ambition of becoming the next national chairman of the NPP, Dr. Wereko-Brobby, said he will work tirelessly to unite the party for victory in 2012 when given the nod. The ex-VRA boss promised that his administration will encourage healthy deliberations and debates as means of strengthening internal democracy in the party. According to him, as far as he was concerned, there was no forerunner in the upcoming elections, urging the party to strive for fair contest at all levels of elections in the party. Dr Wereko-Brobby stressed that he has no constituency but he is selling an all-embracing theory which, if bought by the delegates, could make the party victorious in the next polls.
