The 2008 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has sent a message of congratulations to the newly elected officers of the UK & Ireland branch of the NPP. In a statement, Nana Akufo-Addo said "I, like many other Ghanaians, wish to congratulate you on your election as officers of our great party, to serve in diverse ways to ensure that our party wins the 'votes of the great majority of Ghanaians in 2012. Your new roles recognise your previous commitment and service to our party, while elevating you to a level of leadership that will tap your sustainable abilities." Nana Akufo-Addo added that "looking into the future, I am fully confident of the hard work and dedication that your team will provide to our party, to ensure the effectiveness of our grass roots mobilisation for the 2012 general election". He also congratulated the outgoing officers for their "productive service and commitment to the cause of the party over the years." He ended his message by wishing the outgoing and newly elected officers well in all their endeavours in the years to come.
