SONA: Spare Akufo Addo From CoughingProvide Him Enough Water Handlers Advised

A member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Anim Piesie has urged handlers of President Akufo Addo to ensure they don’t repeat the embarrasment caused the President at his inauguration, as he delivers his maiden State of the Nation Address tomorrow Tuesday February 21.

President Akufo Addo was seized by cough while delivering his inaugural speech at the Independence Square which made him look visibly strained and momentarily needing water which was not readily available. The President’s ordeal was a bother to many especially his wife, Rebecca who’s visibly disturbed counternance was shown live on TV.

The President’s situation was so disturbing that mid way into his speech, while the cough had intensified he punctuated and said “please excuse me… I have a bad cough.”

Handlers of the president came under heavy flak as they were bashed for doing a poor job on the President as the embarrasment could have been avoided.

Speaking on Peace FM Monday, Anim Piesie said the President’s handlers should adequately prepare to avoid him[President] going through the unpleasant experience of having to cough intermitently as he delivers his speech.

“They should make all the necessary preparation for the President ahead of delivering his speech is in place, they should provide him with water, we don’t want a repeat of his what he went through during his inauguration. What he went through was not good at all…it was very embarrasing. His handlers need to be guided by his earlier experience and make sure he has all he’ll needs to facilitate a smooth event.”
