Atuguba Is Acting Chief Justice

Chief Justice’ Georgina Theodora Wood was missed in parliament during President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s first State of The Nation Address, Tuesday.

In her absence, Supreme Court judge Justice William Anaam Atuguba was acknowledged by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon Aaron Mike Oquaye as the acting ‘Chief Justice’.

Her Ladyship Wood is said to be in Cairo, Egypt, attending the Conference of Chief Justices – so therefore Justice Atuguba is acting in her absent.

Justice Atuguba was the President of the nine-member panel that adjudicated the landmark 2012 election petition, which was eventually dismissed much to the chagrin of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, one of the three petitioners then.
