Nana Addo Joins Sheikh Sharubutu For Independence Prayers

President Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President will be the guests of the National Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu on Friday at the Abossey Okai Central Mosque.

The First and Second Gentlemen of the land are praying with the Islamic cleric in commemoration of the country’s 60th anniversary of independence.

It is part of a line-up of activities marking this important milestone in the country’s journey from March 6th 1957 and many members of the Islamic faith are expected to join the President and his team.

This is the maiden independence anniversary commemorative Islamic prayers President Nana Akufo-Addo is gracing since assuming office on January 7th.

A release signed by the National Chief Imam on the subject reads “As part of the Ghana at 60 Celebration, the National Chief Imam, Dr. Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu has declared Friday the 3rd of March 2017 as a national day of prayer to be observed across the country at all Jummah prayers in all regional, municipal and district capitals across the country.”

The Chief Imam has urged all imams therefore to pray for Ghana, the President, Vice President and the government.

Similar Christian activities would be held across the nation on Sunday.
