Gov’t Workers Without SSNIT Numbers To Be Eliminated From Pay Roll – Minister

Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta has said government will from April 2017 eliminate government workers who have not been biometrically registered with the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).

Mr Ken Ofori Attah who made this known while delivering the 2017 Budget Statement and Government Economic Policy in Parliament Thursday said the move, is to clean up the public payroll of ghost names.

He noted that a series of interventions would be rolled out by the Controller and Accountant General’s Department where government would have the opportunity to use social security number as one of the mandatory checks in the payroll system.

Mr. Ofori-Atta further noted that government will ensure that the robust sanctions regime will be enforced by all adding that government will strictly enforce the provisions of the Public Procurement Act, especially with regard to sole sourcing.
