The “Danquah-Dombo-Busia Tradition”, a group aligned with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has asked elected party officials not to scramble for public office appointments.

They should stop putting unnecessary pressure on the President and allow him the free hand to pick capable people, who could make things happen – to carry through his development vision.

Nana Kofi Amoh-Gyebi, its National Vice Chairman, making the call through the Ghana News Agency (GNA), in Kumasi, said the group was unhappy with the intense lobbying for positions by some of the leaders.

That, he warned, could prove too costly, counter-productive and likely to make the party to lose its focus.
He reminded constituency, regional and national executives of the party to concentrate on strengthening the party’s internal structures to make it more formidable.

The expectation is that together with the rank and file they would work with more energy to sustain the goodwill of the people and support the government to fulfill its election campaign promises, to grow the economy, create wealth and jobs.

He underlined the need to avoid any misjudgment or missteps that could potentially result in apathy and disillusionment among the supporters.

Nana Amoh-Gyebi said it should not be lost on them that four years was not far away and that they could not afford to waste time on absolutely needless distractions.
