204 Bags Of 'Apesika Wee' Destroyed By Police (PHOTOS)

The Nkwawkaw Police command led by Chief Superintendent James Sarfo Peprah has acted on a court order to burn substance suspected to be India hemp retrieved from farmers at Apesika in the Kwahu East district of the Eastern region last year February.

The Mpraeso Circuit Court ordered the police to destroy the substance on October 6 but due to the General Election last year they were unable to destroy the substance until today.

Speaking to the Nkwawkaw divisional Police commander, he said the police acted on a tip off by an informant which they moved to the community of 21 houses for the arrest.

A full bag of the suspected substance were retrieve from each home.

Both able and disabled farmers including a 79-year-old woman who also had 15 bags in her possession and seventeen suspects were arrested and screened.

Chief Superintendent Peprah said the worth of the substance can cost about 1.4 billion Ghana cedis.
