Suspected Armed Robber Urinates In Court Room

A 19-year-old mason, standing trial at the Accra Circuit Court ‘’One’’ for allegedly robbing two women, including a Police Officer, shocked the judge and those in the court room when he urinated on himself during cross-examination, yesterday.

The accused, Samuel Adjako, started urinating as soon as the first witness gave a vivid description of the skills the accused displayed on the day she was robbed at gunpoint on January 28, at about 12:40 a.m. at Abokobi in the Greater Accra Region.

Adjako together with Benjamin Adu Asante also known as Attah, a 18-year-old manson, and Kwadjo, driver (on the run) attacked and robbed Mesdame Roemary Akorfa Kugblenu, a pharmacy technician, and Linda Kugblenu, a police officer of their Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge mobile phone valued at GH3,000.00, a box of assorted jewellery also valued at GH590.00 and cash of GH3,410.00 all totaling GH7,000.00 and susu box containing an unspecified amount of money at gunpoint.

They pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to rob and robbery and the judge, Mr. Aboagve Tandoh, remanded them in police custody until March 24, 2017.

Chief Inspector Kwabena Adu, prosecutor, told the court that Adjako and Benjamin Adu Asante, armed themselves with a cutlass and a locally manufactured pistol, respectively, entered the house of the witnesses and forcibly took away the above mentioned items.

He said Asante wore a mask but Adjako and Kwadjo did not adding that Adjako and Asante entered the room of the victims and left Kwadjo outside the gate to keep watch.

Chief Inspector Adu said that Madam Linda Kugblenu managed to escape leaving Madam Rosery Akorfah Kugblenu at the mercy of the robbers.

The court heard that Adjako, who saw Madam Rosemary Akorfa naked in bed, attempted to rape her, but was stopped in his track by Asante.

On February 3, 2017, at about 1:30 p.m. Adjako was seen in the vicinity and identified by Rosemary Kugblenu, who raised the alarm and he was arrested.

Adjako mentioned the names of his accomplices as partners in crime who robbed people within Oyarifa and Abokobi areas and sold their booty at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

Investigations, however, led the police to retrieve a bunch of door keys, personal effects, jewellery and susu boxes without their contents but they were later identified by the victims as theirs.
