What started as turf brawl between two rival groups over who controlled a site at a mining community in Odumasi in Asante Akyem Central in the Ashanti Region has led to the death of a leader of a rival group.

The two who were alleged to have been in the forefront for the control of the site bragged about their spiritual fortification to withstand the threats of knife as they  embarked on a stabbing spree.

Yaw Boateng, 24, also known as Ramsey, however lost his life in the process when he clashed with one Arafat Hakeem Mohammed last Wednesday; he allegedly stabbed the deceased in the chest with a dagger, killing him instantly.

Incident

According to an eyewitness, the deceased’s group and that of Arafat had been fighting for supremacy over the site for some time now.

He could not, however, explain what prompted the latest incident.

The eyewitness said the fight ensued last Wednesday afternoon after the two groups had renewed the conflict with both bragging about their spiritual powers.

In the process, Arafat chased Boateng with his dagger and eventually stabbed him in the chest, killing him instantly.

Arafat has since been in police custody assisting in investigations.

Confirmation

The Konongo Divisional Police Commander, Superintendent of Police, Mr Boassman Ohene Boadi, confirmed the incident to the Daily Graphic and added that the suspect was cooperating in investigations.

He said the police would conduct further investigations to unearth the circumstances leading to the death of Boateng.
