If The Laws Works, Galamsey Can Be Eradicated-NDC MP

The Member of Parliament for Upper West Akim, Derrick Asifo Bekoe has challenged President Akufo-Addo not to leave out any of his promise he made to Ghanaians as performs his duties as president.

Aside making this appeal to the president, the MP who represents his constituents on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress addressed the issue of galamsey by stating that it can eradicate it by enforcing strict measures to make the business look unattractive.

“We can all fight against illegal mining (galamsey) but the government has to set up strict measures to drive galamseyers away, the laws must work”. He added that “galamsey has now become a way of polluting our rivers through illegal mining, if Ghanaians do not take a step to fight it; we will have to import water in the next 20 years”.

The NDC MP continued that the District Chief Executives (DCEs) and MP of the various constituencies should take the first step in driving these illegal miners away.

Hon. Bekoe advised Ghanaians to use all what they have to fight against galamsey in the country.
