Chinese Galamsey Barons Caged

The Chinese nationals and their three Ghanaian accomplices allegedly illegally mining at Denkyira, a village near Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region were again remanded in police custody when they reappeared in court yesterday.

The Prosecutor, Superintendent Kofi Blagogee prayed the court to remand the suspects for the second time as the prosecution awaits Attorney General's advice on the appropriate charges for the suspects for trial to begin.

But the defence counsel pleaded that the suspects be granted bail. However, the Presiding Judge, Her Honour, Mercy Kotei refused to grant bail to the suspects. The Judge asked the defence to officially file the bail application for the next adjourned date, which is April 18, 2017.
