Bawku: Soldiers Accused Of Parading Suspects Naked

The security agencies in the Bawku municipality have been accused of high-handedness in their operations as reports reaching PEACEFM NEWS say two suspects were this morning paraded through some principal streets of the township, stark naked. The conduct of the military, when they affected the arrest of the two suspects, is said to have caused a huge uproar in the volatile municipality. The incident, according to reports, happened at about 8:45am on Wednesday, November 11th, between two suburbs, Sabongari and Natinga. The two suspects, Rashid, 26 years and Herno Justice, also 26years, were said to have fired continuously and erratically into the air causing panic in the township. They were said to be on a motorbike all this while. The Commander of the Airborne Force(ABF) in the Upper East Region, Captain Frank Abrokwah, is alleged to have led the soldiers to pick up the trigger-happy men, subjected them to severe beatings and later paraded them through some principal streets of the township, stark naked. Meanwhile, the Bawku Divisional Police Commander, Mr. Kweku Boadu Peprah, who spoke in an interview with PEACEFM News, confirmed the arrest of the two suspects but denied reports suggesting that the suspects were paraded naked through the township. ��you know that arresting a guilty person is sometimes very difficult. What happened was that these two suspects resisted arrest and in their struggle with the joint police/military team, their shirts got torn in the process�it�s never true that they were paraded naked,� he explained.
