Adomako Baafi Advises Otiko, Naabu

NPP Deputy Communications Director, Yaw Adomako Baafi has waded into discussions regarding the recent bad blood between the Gender Minister, Otiko Djaba and the Northern Regional Chairman of the party, Bugri Naabu.

The two leaders have been exchanging words and leveling various allegations against each other.

The behaviour of the two NPP leaders has since had a negative toll on the ruling NPP with some members of the main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) lambasting the government for harboring such characters.

Commenting on the issue on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Mr. Adomako Baafi advised the two leaders of the party to act "governmental" and conduct themselves well. "It should be issued-based. It should be integrative".

He asked the Gender Minister and Bugri Naabu to be measured in their conduct, particularly now that the party has pardoned them.

He however took a swipe at them for their hasty trading of words and quoted a scripture which suggests that people who do things impetuously like Otiko Djaba and Bugri Naabu displayed, even a "fool" is wiser than such people.

According to him, though the party has accepted their apology; however the fact that they have also admitted they spoke "by heart" is irresponsible on their part.

He noted that if they had both exercised patience, they wouldn't have committed what they term as a "slip of tongue" by pointing accusing fingers at each other and ridiculing themselves in public, and then rendering an apology afterwards.

"...when you're talking as a political Communicator or politician, you should know that whatever you say; you're setting an agenda and you're creating a brand name for your party..." he stated, stressing the agenda being set by the Gender Minister and the party's Regional Chairman has shifted focus from the good works and developmental projects by the President of the Republic, Nana Akufo-Addo.

"We've created a negative agenda for ourselves. Another thing is that character is like cumulative record. Today, something happens and then tommorrow a similar thing also happens. Then, we will not be able to create a rift between us and others," he told host Kwami Sefa Kayi.

Mr. Adomako Baafi expressing disappointment in the leaders, wondering how a "whole Regional Chairman" and a Minister would run themselves through the mud.

"History is replete with politicians and leaders that just one sentence, one phrase, one word has shattered an ambition" he stated and advised both the ruling NPP and opposition NDC members to weigh their actions before they undertake it.

To him, before any leader or politician does something; he or she must first ask "what are the implications? What are consequences?"

The NPP Deputy Communications Director left both ruling and opposition parties with a quote from the bible, saying "those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity (Proverbs 21:23)".
