Kelvin Doe Honoured With GUBA Young Innovator Award

The anticipated GUBA Awards 2017, scheduled to take place on Saturday the 3rd of June, 2017 at the Intercontinental Hotel, London will honour Kelvin Doe with the Young African Innovator Award.

The award comes under the GUBA Black Star Awards which seeks to reward the efforts of consistent pioneers within the Ghanaian and African community.

The Young African Innovator award recognises individuals under the age of 30 who are at the forefront of introducing new ideas or products that benefit their society. Kelvin Doe will be in the company of a total of thirteen recipients who are pioneers of various prestigious Black Star Awards.

Born in Freetown, Sierra Leone Kelvin Doe is globally recognized for teaching himself engineering at a young age and building his own radio station in Sierra Leone. He was one of the finalists in an Innovation idea Competition, in which he built a generator from scrap metals. As a result of his accomplishment, Doe received an invitation to the United States to attend the 2012 World Maker Faire in New York city, in which he won the Auditor Choice Award and subsequently became the youngest person to participate in the “Visiting Practitioner’s Program” at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M I T).

Doe’s recognition has earned him the place as a notable speaker. In 2013, he was invited as a keynote speaker at Clinton Global Initiative conference in New York, the USAID Powering Agriculture Project in Washington DC, Google Conference in Tel Aviv Israel, and SAPPHIRE NOW Conference in Florida USA at Middle East’s first Eco Club in Abu Dhabi.

In 2014, Doe was awarded the African Most Influential Award and was rated 43 out of 100 most creative people in Business in the world by Fast Company Magazine. His accomplishments have been documented story by CNN, NBC News and The Huffington Post and subsequently spoke at TEDxTeen and lectured the Undergraduate Engineering students at Harvard College.
