Akufo-Addo Won’t Commit Mahama’s Blunders- Andy Owusu To NDC

Calls by the Minority in Parliament on President Akufo-Addo to reverse the Attorney General's actions that led to the dropping of the charges against the eight members of the Delta Force vigilante group, has been rubbished by Andy Owusu.

Mr. Owusu, an aide to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party explained that “President Akufo-Addo won’t be coerced by the NDC's plot to make him commit avoidable blunders like ex-president Mahama did with the infamous Montie 3 case.”

The Minority Leader, Hon. Haruna Idrrisu has claimed that it is wrong to compare the discharge of the Delta Force Members to that of the Montie trio whose sentences were remitted by ex-President Mahama.

According to him, “the then president exercised his right in remitting the sentence of the three. There was nowhere he halted the prosecution. They were prosecuted by the court and sentenced. They spent some time in incarceration before they were given remission by the president who has the constitutional rights and therefore exercised it”.

But in an interview with Peacefmonline.com, Mr. Owusu stated that he feels disappointed Hon. Haruna Idrrisu wants to ride on the back of the Delta Force saga to gain popularity within the National Democratic Congress amid claims he wants to be their flagbearer.

He continued that “Haruna wants to contest as flagbearer in the NDC and would announce that soon. He has come out to deny the story but trust me we have done our checks and we know he would be hiding behind several faceless groups to strongly push that agenda”.

Mr. Owusu therefore advised Hon. Haruna Idrrisu and the NDC to focus on issues that would make them a vibrant opposition instead of wasting their time chasing the wind and calling on President Mahama to reverse the AG's actions on the Delta Force case.
