Central Region Scored 100% In FOAT - C/R Minister

Twenty Metropolitan/Municipal/District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Central Region have successfully gone through the Functional Organization Assessment Tool (FOAT) during last year's assessment.

The Assemblies will therefore receive some amount of funds for infrastructural development as well as capacity building of their staff.

It also means that any Assembly which fails the FOAT will lose a huge amount of money.

Hon. Kwamena Duncan was addressing the Regional Coordinating Council meeting in Cape Coast on Tuesday, May 23.

He called on the assemblies to intensify their activities of the respective District Education Oversight Commmittees(DEOCs) with a view of improving the standard of education in the Region.

He also mentioned that the MMDAs are spending whooping sums of money on sanitation and despite the huge financial commitment, sanitation issues continue to worsen; hence undermining the efforts of the assemblies to maintain a clean healthy environment.

He further raised concerns over recent outbreak of cholera in the region and implored the authorities to take necessary steps to avoid any future recurrence.

"It is in the light of this that I encourage all stakeholders to embrace the National Sanitation Day programme," he stated.
