Gyan Must Win A Trophy To Prove He Is Ghana’s All-time Best - George Alhassan

Former Ghana international George Alhassan says Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan must win a trophy with the National team before being described as Ghana’s all-time best.

Gyan is currently the top scorer for the Black Stars with 49 goals to his credit.

The Al Ahli striker is also the most capped Black Stars player with over hundred National team appearances.

Many football fans have described the former Sunderland star as Ghana’s all-time best having represented the Nation at three successive World Cup appearances. The 31-year-old has also featured in seven Cup of Nation appearances and is currently Ghana’s all-time top scorer at the Nations Cup with 7 goals.

However George Alhassan, two-time Ghana Premier League goal king and two-time Africa Cup of Nations winner with the Black Stars says Gyan must clinch a trophy with the National team in order to cement his achievements with the Black Stars.

“Gyan is a wonderful player, he has done a lot for the Black Stars, but he has to do just one thing,” he told Metro TV.

“He has to win the Cup of Nations with the Black Stars before he can be described as Ghana’s all-time best, because he has scored many goals some people say he is Ghana’s best my likes of Abedi Pele and myself won a trophy with the Black Stars, so Gyan must win a trophy with the National team as well.”

Asamoah Gyan could reach that feat should he stay fit and win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations with Ghana.
