Black Stars “B” Held By Benin In Friendly

Ghana Coach Kwesi Appiah failed to secure his first victory with the Black Stars “B” after they drew 1-1 with Benin in an international friendly played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday.
 
The visitors managed to hold a highly-rated Ghanaian side a stalemate despite finishing the game with 10-men.

Benin’s Ogoulola Ibrahim gave his side the lead after 24 minutes as he took advantage of a howler by Ghana goalkeeper Richard Ofori.

The Black Stars were forced to make an early change after Zakaria Mumuni came on for Joseph Painsil who suffered an injury.

Ghana drew level from the spot kick before half time after winger Patrick Razak had been fouled in the 18-yard box.

Razak was brought down after he outwitted his marker who had not choice than to foul the Hearts of Oak talisman in the danger zone. Awal Mohammed stepped-up and converted to draw Ghana level.

Benin however deployed a tactics by slowing the tempo of the game with their antics in the second half.

The visitors were reduced to nine men after Osseni Ayide was shown his marching orders for a second bookable offense on Ghana skipper Daniel Darkwah.

Awal Mohammed fluffed an opportunity to give Ghana the lead after his second penalty was saved by Benin goalkeeper.

Benin held on to ensure the game ended an a 1-1 draw.
