I Taught Wontumi Core Science In Secondary School - Dr Addai-Mensah

Dr Addai-Mensah Otchere the New Patriotic Party (NPP) member who declined President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s appointment as the Director of the Ghana Standards Authority, has revealed that he was once a teacher to Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party in Secondary School.

“I taught Chairman Wontumi and Andy Kankam who is the Member of Parliament for Nhyiaso core science at Prempeh College,” he revealed on Gospel Chat hosted by Daniel Nii Adjaye on Kumasi-based Ultimate Fm.

The former acting Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, College of Health Sciences of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) said he currently enjoys a very good relationship with him even though he turned down an appointment from government.

“Wontumi and I are cool but I have on many occasions criticised him on some of this utterances and actions. He sees me as a brother but not a teacher and life goes on,” he added.

According to him, he always speaks his mind and will not be cowed into submission irrespective of the situation or who is involved.

He denied claims he is angry with the NPP following his decision to decline the appointment but said he would not be surprised if he is considered for another position either in government or where the opportunity avails itself.

Dr Addai-Mensah Otchere it would be recalled turned down the appointment a month ago citing personal reasons.

“I write to peacefully withdraw the letter of acceptance (dated 30th March 2017) of the position offered me by His Excellency the President as the Acting Director of the Ghana Standards Authority by a letter dated 7th March 2017. This has been necessitated by my decision to decline the said appointment for personal reasons after meeting with His Excellency The President at the Flagstaff House on April 4, 2017”
