Bawku Conflict Extends to Northern RegionPNC Man Killed

Reports reaching PEACEFM News say, the conflict in the Bawku Municipality in the Upper East Region between the Kusasis and the Mamprusis, has taken a turn for the worse. PEACEFM News is reliably informed that the two ethnic groups have extended their variance to the Northern Region, leading to the death of a Kusasis. Dr Moses Baanaba Anandu, the Peoples National Convention Party (PNC's) parliamentary candidate for the Nalerigu-Gambaga constituency in the 2008 general elections, who is also a pharmacist technician at the Baptist Medical Centre, has met his untimely death at the hands of a group of people alleged to be Mamprusis. The incident is said to have taken place while the deceased was on his way from work at the Baptist Medical Centre where he is employed as a laboratory pharmacist. ACP Awuni Angwubutoge, the Northern Regional Police Commander, confirmed the death to newsmen. This latest spill-over is likely to re-shape the strategies of the security agencies in handling the conflict.
